Kansas wildflower session at Heritage park – The Sweeney family

Late summer shoots filled with wild sunflowers and the most laid back, adorable family…yes please! I loved getting to capture this lovely family of 5 during their Kansas wildflower session. These 3 boys made things interesting but they were so captivated by all the buzzing insects around the flowers and I loved capturing their curiosity.

These might be some of my favorite sun drenched photos with all the flowers and genuine connections shared between this family. It’s not always easy for parents to just let their kids run, play with bugs and be free during a photo shoot because you have an idea in your mind about how a shoot should look. However, when families can allow themselves the space and freedom to play and have fun during a session, like this one, it always generates the most genuine and heartfelt images.

I especially love the sun drenched photos with the youngest son and his mom and or the 2 older boys running through the sunflowers. These are the moments you will remember and the facial expressions you want to engraved in your memory. Thank you Sweeney family for a wonderful Kansas wildflower session, I truly loved getting to capture your family!

Angelina – Vibrant KC senior session

Eek, I love these so much. There is so much variety in Angelina’s downtown senior session that speaks to each part of her personality. This vibrant KC senior session offers airy rooftop plaza vibes to moody rose pictures and they all showcase her bright yet sophisticated style. I also love when we are able to incorporate personal touches like the train pictures that are part of her dad’s locomotive repair company. It’s actually illegal to take pictures on trains on train tracks (on live tracks) so getting this kind of access was so fun and not something you get to do much as a photographer. Angelina’s smile is not only contagious but she was such a light to be around. Her positive energy made our shoot so fun and I loved capturing her many sides all over downtown KC. We jumped from The Nelson Atkins are museum, to the Spanish steps on the plaza, a plaza rooftop, north KC where her dad’s company is and ended near the KC museum Colonnade. It’s a little off the beaten path but a fun hidden secret in KC – https://kcparks.org/places/the-colonnade/

It’s important to me that we capture all the things that embody someone’s personality which is why I love this session so much. Downtown offers everything from vintage train cars to Spanish architecture, it truly has something to offer everyone.

Congrats on senior year Angelina, you are such a wonderful young lady and have so much to look forward to! Keep shining your light! Check out all my recent sessions here – https://andreanigh.com/category/seniors/

KC senior photography – Track star Emma

Track star and pure gem, Emma was a blast to photograph! It was also pretty fun that I finished her edit right when track and field started in Paris. I love when kids want to incorporate their passions and showcase the things that make them who they are. Track is a big part of Emma’s life as she is headed to KU after her senior year to run! Reaching the collegiate level in any sport is no small feat and takes a incredible amount of determination and discipline so capture this side of her was very important! I really love senior pictures because it’s about telling your story and all the different aspects that make you who you are. I also love the variety of shots we have from rooftop parking garage shots to wildflowers fields and medal draped arms!

Kansas City family photography at Shawnee Mission park – Embree family

The Embree family was such a joy to capture and I was in love with the white wildflowers we found at Shawnee Mission Park. Alex surprised Connor with a session for Father’s day. It was clear after a few minutes that he and his son share a very sweet and special connection! Since Connor is also a coach for the Chiefs, it was also important to Alex that they capture their time here in KC! I love family photography and the delicate dance between myself and my clients to capture genuine moments! In order to achieve real captures, I need my clients to trust me, and be in the moment. It is my job to make them feel comfortable and relaxed so I can capture who they really are. The Embree family did just that! They trusted my process and as a result, we have the sweetest, most amazing images! We also could not have asked for better weather that morning and I really love the images we captured for their session.
